AUSTIN — Today, Todd Staples, Texas Agriculture Commissioner and candidate for Lieutenant Governor, announced his campaign has raised over $800,0000 this year for the March 4 Republican Primary, including over $650,000 in the latest reporting period. During this finance reporting period, Staples raised more money than two of his other opponents combined. Staples’ statewide financial support signals serious momentum in the race to unseat incumbent Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst.
“With a little more than a week to go, it is clear that Texans are ready for new leadership. Grassroots and financial support is pouring in because conservatives are tired of politicians who do nothing but spend and talk like David Dewhurst and Dan Patrick. David Dewhurst is not the leader we need to move our state forward as he continuously pushes for more spending.
