Patrick questions if Tinderholt is a Republican, fails to realize Tinderholt missed an election because he was living in the middle of the Iraqi desert under constant rocket and mortar attacks.
ARLINGTON, TX- Yesterday, Diane Patrick echoed her campaign consultant, attempting to insinuate that Tinderholt isn’t a Republican because he missed the GOP primary in 2010. What Diane Patrick failed to mention is that Tony Tinderholt was in an active combat zone in Iraq during that time.
Tony Tinderholt was deployed in Amarah, Iraq from August of 2009 until August of 2010. During that time Tony served with 10 other soldiers, conducted daily combat missions and was consistently barraged with rockets and mortars by insurgent forces. This 12 month deployment saw he and his team live almost entirely in the field, with only tents for shelter.
Tinderholt commented on Patrick’s campaign attack saying, “Honestly I never expected my service in combat to be used against me by someone who calls herself a “Republican”. I am a lifelong Republican and it is beneath Diane Patrick to insinuate anything other than that. I hope she will reevaluate if questioning my party affiliation or service to my country is a worthwhile attack. I can assure her, she would be making a mistake.”
Tony entered active duty Air Force in 1988 as a Spanish Cryptologic Linguist, taking part in counter drug missions across South and Central America. He later re-entered active duty in January 2002 after the events of September 11th. In his 21 years in the Armed forces, Tony has earned multiple honors, including the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge.
